## Description: 
- Apache Karaf provides a modern and polymorphic applications runtime, multi-purpose (microservices, cloud, IoT, OSGi, etc).
   
## Issues: 
 - There are no issues requiring board attention at this time
   
## Activity: 
 - As a start about Kloud initiative, new blog posts have been done showing some use cases covered by Karaf: static distribution, deployment on cloud, kubernetes support, ... For instance http://blog.nanthrax.net/?p=893 and http://blog.nanthrax.net/?p=874
 - We are in the polishing phase for Karaf Vineyard (API management) for the donation
 - We started the OSGi R7 support on Karaf master
 - Karaf 4.2.6 release is on vote with bug fixes.
 - A branch has been started with Runnable based tools, allowing us to support Maven, Gradle, and CLI tooling.
   
## Health report: 
 - We can see more and more interaction with companies and communities (via the mailing list)

A completely brand new website has been promoted and announced. We are now working on the polishing of the documentation.

Two new committers have been elected:

We are working on new "marketing" material proposal, especially a new website and developer guide.

We are also discussing with other communities to have a better support of Karaf.

We are following a couple of potential new committers.

specifically designed for creating OSGi-based servers.

Community
=========
The talk "Apache Karaf in real life" has been provided by a committer during the latest ApacheCon NA 2014.
Talks have been submitted by different committers for the next ApacheCon Europe 2014.

We can note a couple of books available (or in preparation) about Karaf and its sub-projects (Cellar, Cave, EIK).
There have been three articles in the german JavaMagazin about Karaf 3.0 in April, Mai and June. 

We started to work on the next Karaf 4.0.0 branch including a lot of new features and improvements.

- Apache Karaf 3.0.1 (maintenance release) (April 13, 2014)
- Apache Karaf 2.3.5 (maintenance release) (April 13, 2014)
We plan to release a Karaf 3.0.2 version (especially for Java8 support) and Cellar 3.0.0 version (for full support of Karaf 3.0.x branch) in the coming weeks.

=========
The new Karaf 3.0.0 has been a good message to the community.
The website has been a bit polished to give more visibility to the documentation of the two active Karaf branches.

Apache Karaf and all subprojects have moved to git (thanks INFRA for that).
