Keep conversations on the topics the list is intended for.  Improve the signal-to-noise ratio on the list to make it more useful.

Comment can reasonably be expected to provoke an angry response from a significant portion of the people on the list. Help all participants collaborate in a constructive manner, while still allowing substantive disagreement.

...uses too much emotional language and can easily be misunderstood.  Please reformulate without the offending phrase and resend.

Comment reveals private information in a more public forum than it was originally shared.Make it possible for participants to share information in private that needs to be kept private, without putting that information at risk of exposure.
