Dear Apache OpenOffice Users

Thank you for taking your interest into in Apache OpenOffice and your ongoing on-going support
over the years. As of late as you have heared You may have heard through various channels ,
an Issue has popped up on that a bug
with OpenOffice occurs on macOS 11 / Big Sur.

The issue affects on When opening modern Microsoft Office Document formats Documents
(files that end on with docx, xlsx, etc.) , which causes openoffice to crash
on Mac OSX Big Sur. Affected, as far as we know, are all OpenOffice
versionsOpenOffice crashes.

There is no workaround within OpenOffice at this point, and but we will
address this are
going to fix the issue in a new patch minor release - 4.1.9, which will be released to all
platforms, despitesoon.

The the main reason is to fix the Issue on Macbug on macOS 11 / Big Sur. We will see to it that we also include
some other minor development to fixes in the patchrelease, so everyone has something
from this unfortunate incident. But we We know that this is a pressing
issue to our users,So expect  expect the patch release soon.

In Order order to identify the issue we had first took a closer look at our build
in order to exclude any Issues with a wrong releaseissues with an error in prior releases. Next, we updated the
build to a newer SDK Issue to excludean exclude any Issue in our support structures. After this we figured We that our non
-production ready but upcoming Version version 4.2.0 is not affected by this
Issue. In an effort over Christmas a comparison took place between the
4.2.0 and 4.1.8 Versions to loacate potential Issues. It seems we locate the issue. We have found the code change that is solving solves the crash on MacmacOS 11.

However we We are testing the Solution at this point. If you want to join
the test riage of the new version of this fix, drop a mail an email in English to
dev@openoffice.apache.org. The more environments we can test the better sooner
we can react on Issuesrelease.

The OpenOffice Project thanks Jim Jagelski for his endless effort during Christmas
time, and the French Forum users [...] who did support supported the development
by their dedicated testing effortseffort with dedicated testing.

All the best and stay healthy
