TL;DR
- We use git-flow, but keep release branches around for minor versions as long term support branches.
- Go through the git-flow cheat sheet: http://danielkummer.github.io/git-flow-cheatsheet
- Create nice commits, be responsible, use review board to submit patches.
- https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/cloudstack.git is master which is synced to github so it's recommended to fork on github.
- Up to 4.4.0 cloudstack used cherry-picking in favor of merging so there's a transition in progress.
