Goals of the document

This tutorial guides you through a very basic ServiceMix scenario, while trying to explain the key concepts down the road.provides an easy and convenient way for a new user to learn about:

• installing and starting ServiceMix
• installing components and deploying service assemblies
• building service units and service assemblies

Before starting the tutorial

Download the latest version of Apache ServiceMix and extract the zip file or tarball somewhere on your local hard drive. For the remainder of this tutorial, we will refer to this directory as $SERVICEMIX_HOME
