SDO can be used to represent data structures from the presentation layer all the way through to the persistence layer. It is a natural format for representing data on the wire in an SOA environment. In SDO a Data Access Services Service (DAS) access accesses a data sources source and produce produces a disconnected data graphs. Modifications made to graphs by the application graph. When a graph is modified, concise information about those modifications are summarized in the graph structure , and a DAS can use this change summary to update along with the updated graph. This information can be useful for rolling back changes or for facilitating intelligent behaviour by a DAS when updating the original data source.
