2006-12-22 This version of Geronimo represents a point in time view into our progress towards a Java Enterprise Edition 5.0 Server runtime. It includes the latest Jetty and Tomcat servlet engines so users can experiment with Servlet 2.5, JSP 2.1 as well as JSF 1.1 and JSTL 1.2. Also included is Apache's OpenJPA for Java Persistence as well as the latest Javamail 1.4 and Java Activation Framework. This is a milestone release so it is not recommended for high load deployments. The Apache Geronimo team would very much like user feedback so we can meet your needs as we continue the Drive to Five. 2006-12-22 Apache Geronimo 1.2 includes several new features. They are Global JNDI support, OpenJPA as a persistence option, improved performance for EJBs as well as new locking support for CMP entity beans. This release has not yet passed the TCK. Apache Yoko has also been included and we are in the process of certifying this release on a Java 5 Virtual Machine. See the Download page for download information. 2006-11-13 The Geronimo Eclipse Plugin v1.2.0 is mainly a bug-fix release, improving stability and adding support for the Geronimo 1.1.1 release. See the Development Tools section for download information. 2006-10-12 The Apache Geronimo Project is pleased to announce the J2EE 1.4 Certification of Apache Geronimo v1.1.1 running on an Azul Compute Appliance. The testing was performed on an Azul Compute Appliance Model 1920B (8 chip / 192 cores, 64GB memory) coupled with Azul VM release 2.3.1.2 (HotSpotJava 1.4.2_12), 64-bit Server mode. The Apache Geronimo Project wishes to thank Azul Systems for providing the machine time on the Azul Compute Appliance used for this certification effort. It supports running on the latest release of WTP, version 1.5, and supports deployment to Geronimo v1.1. See the Subprojects section for download information. 2006-06-26 Geronimo 1.1 has been released and is available for user download. It includes numerous bug fixes as well as improvements to performance, usability and a brand new Plug-in feature that allows a user to dynamically build a server to suit their needs. Also included is a Little-G distribution that provides a subset of Geronimo components in a light weight download form. Check it out here. 2006-01-05 Geronimo Version 1.0 which has passed the J2EE Certification Test Suite is now available for download here. This release represents the combined efforts of many engineers from several OpenSource projects and individual contributors from around the world. All release materials can be downloaded from the Download page. 2005-09-13 The WTP Geronimo Server Adapter now being developed under the Geronimo Development Tools subproject. It is no longer being hosted and developed under Eclipse. Re-visit the article on this plug-in. 2005-08-28 Apache Geronimo now includes Apache Directory which allows Geronimo to provide and build on a unified security layer for applications. This release is feature complete and passes the J2EE TCK automated test suite, but full certification is not yet complete. Please visit the Download page and take a look at the release notes. 2005-07-11 The standard Apache Geronimo deployer now supports JBI deployment units - any jar which includes META-INF/jbi.xml) - in order to auto-deploy JBI components and serivce assemblies. JBI support provided by the ServiceMix Open Source Enterprise Service Bus. We will be acquiring a TCK license to certifiy that we conform to the JSR-208 standard. 2005-06-30 The Apache Geronimo team is proud to announce that Apache Geronimo passes the J2EE TCK 1.4.1a test suite. Congratulations to all and thanks for all the hard work. There is some remaining work to do, and the team will continue to complete our initial project goal, full J2EE certification. 2005-06-21 IBM has created an Apache Geronimo resource site at developerWorks. 2005-06-11 Katia Aresti González has made her book on Apache Geronimo titled Estudio del servidor Geronimo y desarrollo de aplicaciones prácticas available as a free download. Written in Spanish, the book is available under the terms of the Creative Commons license. 2005-05-06 IBM contributes tooling for Geronimo to the Eclipse Web Tools Project. There's also a good article about it here. 2005-01-01 The Apache Geronimo server is now in CTS (TCK) testing. 2003-11-18 The Apache Software Foundation becomes the first open-source J2EE(tm) TCK licensee. Taking advantage of the result of changes to the Java Community Process that allow open source implementations of Java specificaitons, the Geronimo project is now able to test and certify the codebase. Testing will begin at the appropriate time. 2003-11-11 We have recieved a mail a letter on behalf of the JBoss Group, LCC dated October 31, 2003 that asks for clarifications regarding similarity between parts of the Geronimo codebase and the JBoss codebase. We are in the process of actively reviewing not only the specific claims but also the code base in general. |
