Here we will only discuss some guidelines for the Doris community to invite Committer and PMC member in order to be able to effectively estimate developer participation in the community.

The Apache Way:

Before anyone can become a Committer or PMC member of an Apache project, they should first understand "What's TheApacheWay".

Guidance for Committer:

1. Have significant feature contributions (not limited to code), or long-term participation in community building (bug fixing, code review, documentation translation and proofreading, community outreach, etc.)
2. Participate in community discussions in public domain and have a positive impact.

Guidance for PMC member:

1. Be able to actively participate in community maintenance work, such as answering emails, organizing wiki, release management, code review, etc.
2. Recognize the Apache community philosophy and be able to actively promote the community development.

Peer Review(Updated 2023-02-16):

The above requirements are highly subjective and cannot be measured quantitatively. Therefore, the PMC needs to form a regular review mechanism to discuss and invite people who meet the requirements.

1. Conduct a review every 1-2 3 months to nominate and discuss suitable candidates
2. For each nomination window, according to the number of commits, nominate the top 3 contributors who are NOT committer/PMC
3. PMC members can additionally recommend candidates and need to give clear reasons.

Invite Committer(Step by Step)

1. Vote
2. Send Invitation mail to the candidate, wait for candidate to accept it.
3. Candidate send iCLA to the asf secretary
4. Candidate will receive en email from root@apache, set password for apache id.
5. Check https://whimsy.apache.org/roster/committee/doris
6. Go to https://gitbox.apache.org/boxer/ to link github id.
7. Welcome

Invite PMC member(Step by Step)

1. VOTE
2. Send NOTICE to board@apache, and wait at least 72 hours
3. Add PMC member at https://whimsy.apache.org/roster/committee/doris
