Installing prerequisite software

Apache Geronimo v3.0 is built on Java SE v1.6 using Maven 2.2.1. You can get the appropriate version of Java Virtual Machine (JVM) from the following Web sites:

• Java SE SDK (http://java.sun.com/)
• Apache Maven (http://maven.apache.org/) only needed if building from source.

Note: Ensure that the <java_home>/bin directory is added to the PATH system variable and both the JAVA_HOME and JRE_HOME system variables are defined after installing JVM.
