Apache Tuscany is providing an open-source services infrastructure for constructing SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) solutions from heterogeneous and distributed services based on . At the core of the project are implementations of the SCA and SDO (Service Data Objects) standards being developed at OASIS and OSOA. These technologies permit application developers to assemble distributed services into applications in a declarative fashion; making use of services implemented in a variety of technologies and using a variety of protocols.

Using slides and examples this presentation reviews the fundamental concepts and developments of the SCA and SDO , the recent advances that have been made in these technologies standards, and the milestones that have led to significant deliveries from the Apache Tuscany project in 2007.
