  • Before asking a question:
  • Don't ask to ask, be patient, and state your problem clearly and specifically. Don't speak in vague terms, say exactly what your problem is and what you're trying to do.
  • If you're using a front-end for SpamAssassin (such as Amavisd, MailScanner, or spamass-milter) instead of using the "spamassassin" script or "spamc" tool directly, then try to reproduce the issue with just those apps first. The issue may lie with the front-end instead of SpamAssassin itself. If
  • In general, you're using a front-end, you might get better luck mailing the SpamAssassin-Users list (MailingLists). Generally, there aren't that many people on the IRC channel, and there are more people on the mailing list, and more likelihood that someone will be running the same front-end.
  • Wiki Markup
    Use \[http://sial.org/pbot/spamassassin/ the pastebot\] instead of pasting/flooding.
  • The better off asking questions on the 'users' mailing list instead of IRC; the IRC channel is a secondary forum, so not everybody hanging out there is knowledgeable about SpamAssassinand infrequently monitored. If you do ask on IRC, and nobody answers, don't get an answer, keep asking – it's likely that nobody knows. Don't keep coming back every day for a week and re-asking the same message – try sending a message to the 'users' MailingList instead, you're more likely to get an answer that way. (wink)who's on the channel knows the answer, and you'd be better off asking the list.
  • Use pastebin instead of pasting/flooding.
