A committer is someone who has worked with the Apache Flex community over time. They share a passion to make Apache Flex better and provide support for it. The title itself is bestowed on those who have been a continuous asset and with it comes more rights and privileges within the Apache Flex project. |
Ways to contribute.
Not all contributions are code. While we always love help fixing issues, we can certainly have help in other areas as well. The following are many ways you can contribute.
- Testing / Fixing bugs. Providing patches.
- Assisting other users with their requests for help.
- Helping out with release candidates.
- Wiki / Documentation / Website work.
- Translations into other languages.
- Public relations.
- Examples of code and components.
How to become a comitter.
The PMC keeps on an eye on the community. It's part of their responsibility to always been on the look out for new committers. The following are just a few overall points that are looked at:
- Being noticed as an active participant in the Apache Flex community.
- Have contributed in a productive and positive fashion.
- Present themselves to be trustworthy.
Additional benefits of a committer
- Greater responsibility to safeguard the Apache Flex community.
- Ability to directly commit changes to the project.
- Bigger voice in the decisions of the community.
- More responsibility!

Anyone can be a contributor to Apache Flex. Translation, Design, Documentation, Concepts, Code - any help counts. Even writing to the mailing-list is considered contributing.
Special contributors that are entrusted to change and decide things on the project. They are called commiter. Even though only commiters are listed under team - every contribution is important.
To become a commiter - a trusted contributor - You have just to take two, small, hurdles:
1) Contribute things
You need to contribute to be trusted. We don't know who you are and how passionate you are. You can contribute whatever you like! Use the mailing-list or Jira to pass your contribution to the Flex community.
2) Get voted in
Then you need to be voted in by the team. The team is expected to be scouting for passionate people all the time. When your contributed is recognized you will surely be voted in soon. If you feel overlooked: Don't feel shy to ask for being voted in.
