Below is another concept for a ui change for a future release of CloudStack. The first concept can be found at the link below. In the new concept, you will also see an idea for multi-action selection on vm's as well. If the user were to select more than one vm via the checkboxes, the table would slide down and reveal the common actions that could  be applied to the selected vm's.
