Post Event Report

The ACL Indore successfully organized the "Open Source and ASF Awareness" Session at Indore on 23 November 2019.

Here are highlights from the event.

  • 50+ Students participated in the event and attended the session
  • The duration for the session was 1 hour 30 minutes including the interaction with the audience.
  • The mentors from the ALC Indore team delivered the session and also resolved the students' queries after the session.

Agenda

ALC Indore is organizing 'Open Source and ASF Awareness' event for student community at Daisy Dales School on 23 November 2019 in Indore, India.
As per our experience, we found the school students are not much aware about open-source, for most of them a free to use software is open source.
Since, they are the future of software industry, we thought to guide them on Open-Source and the Apache Software Foundation.

Our audience will be 11th and 12th grade students who have taken computer as an additional subject.
In the event we will have session on Open-Source and The Apache Software Foundation (Duration ~1 hour)

  • About the Apache Software Foundation and it's history
  • About the Apache Way
  • What is ICLA and how it should be signed to contribute in ASF
  • Apache Incubator
  • The Foundation structure
  • The projects under Apache umbrella
  • Mailing list and it's usage
  • How to pick a project based domain/programming language interest
