Committers == PMC members

The Axis project doesn't make a distinction between committers and PMC members. Everybody who is admitted as a committer automatically becomes member of the PMC.

Committer nomination process

  1. Nomination on private@axis.apache.org.
  2. Discussion and vote on private@axis.apache.org.
  3. Assuming success, invitation goes out privately to <nominee>.
  4. Assuming acceptance, announcement goes out to dev list and general@axis.apache.org.

Announcement template:

The Axis Project Management Committee (PMC, see [1]) is pleased to announce that <user> has accepted the invitation to become a committer and PMC member. <user> was nominated due to <reasons>, and the PMC voted to invite them to join as per Apache process. There were <N> +1 votes and <M> -1 votes.
