Introduction

This document describes how to install and configure ServiceMix 1.x.

Pre-Installation Requirements

Hardware:

    • XX GB for ServiceMix bundle

Operating Systems:

    • Windows XP, Windows NT, blah,
    • Linux: SUSE XX, Redhat XX, Linux distribution based on kernel release 2.4 or greater.

Environment:

    • Java Developer Kit (JDK) of 1.4.x or greater
    • JAVA_HOME must be set.

Installation Procedure For Windows

  • Binary:
    Download and Extract the ServiceMix software:
    Go to www.servicemix.org
    Click on the Download link in the left pane.
    Scroll down to select the version to download.
    Extract the files from the zip file into a director of your choice.

Test the Installation

From a console window, change to the installation directory and run the servicemix program:

cd install_dir\bin

where install_dir is the directory in which ServiceMix was installed, e.g., c:\Program Files.

The console window will display the following log line if
ServiceMix is up and running without any problems:
INFO JBIContainer – ServiceMix JBI Container
<http://servicemix.org/> name: defaultJBI running version: null

ServiceMix's default port is 1099. From another console
window run netstat and look for port 1099.

netstat -an|more

From Unix could
netstat -an|grep port_no

Note: Do NOT close/exit from the console window in which
ServiceMix was started as that will terminate ServiceMix.
