Traditionally, at StreamPipes we publish a blogpost for every new released version, which briefly explains the most important features added.
In combination with a short textual description of how to use the new features, we usually create some screenshots that illustrate how to use
and where to find the features.

Starting with releasing StreamPipes 0.70.0 we came up with the idea of using short GIF videos that demonstrate the new features instead
of single screenshots. Here you can see an example:

How to create such GIFs?

The GIF shown above has been created with the tool LICEcap. It provides a easy and comfortable way for screencasting and diretcly saving it as GIFs.
LICEcap is available for both MacOS and Windows. An alternative for Linux is peek. A more powerful tool with more features is ScreencastToGif.

In the following, it is described how to create a short GIF with LICEcap:

  1. open LICEcap and select the area of your screen to be recorded by changing the size of the LICEcap window.
Within the black box you can see which area will be recorded by LICEcap.

  2. Once the selected area is suitable, click on `Record`
  3. Enter the file name and save path in the appearing dialog.

  4. If you select the option mouse button press in the selection menu on the left handside, mouse clicks are especially highlighted in the resulting GIF.
