Lucene / Solr 10 Discussion and "Blocker" Review (??, Jason G)
Post-Meeting Summary
Some random notes...
Christopher Ball is interested in loading data with Scala / Akka into Solr as fast as possible. Volunteered to do help/do perf testing.
CloudSolrClient: Carlos's experience is that without this (or if it misbehaves) Solr may use too many threads on the server side to distribute incoming documents.
PRS: David proposed making it the default in Solr 10 but will take it up on the dev list. Nobody in the meeting was usingit.
Christopher: "Vision" vs "Roadmap"; not the same
V2 API: incremental progress; probably won't achieve any particular milestone aligning with Solr 10
SolrJ without Apache HttpClient – we'll get there for 10. Jason asked about perf differences (answer: unknown).
JDK 21 in Main – to be merged real soon.
CLI changes – refactorings only in "main" (10) is fine; won't be back-ported.
Sanjay dug into some HTTP1/2 benchmarks; wanted to point out the maximum connections per stream is relevant.
Admin UI redo: Next step is to vote on the approach.
