Current Roadmap for future versions of CXF. (this is an ongoing "work in progress", subject to change.)

CXF version 2.0.5 - target Mar 15

This should just be a bug fix release for bugs users encounter with 2.0.4. This will be done on a branch by selectively merging fixes from trunk on an as-needed basis. For the most part, there would be fixes for:

• XFire migration issues
• Any interopability issues
• Critical show stoppers
• etc....

CXF version 2.1 - target Mar 30.

The "trunk" should now be targetting 2.1 development. There are several new features that are targetted for this release:

• JAX-WS 2.1 support
  • JAXB 2.1
  • WS-A in the API's
  • JAXB Annotations on SEI interface methods
  • WebServiceFeature annotation (map to our Features annotation)
• XmlBeans databinding (runtime definite, tooling is lower priority)
• New java2ws tooling
• Start of better REST support (JSR-311)
• CORBA support via inherited code from Yoko (see discussion on //mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-yoko-dev/200709.mbox/thread)
• ?js support (from the grant from BasisTech)
• OSGi bundling

Possibilities: (resources permitting, these will go into 2.1, but ok to slip to 2.2)

• JiBX databinding (runtime, tooling is lower priority)
• Better Acegi integration
• WS-SecureConversation/Trust
• Other WS-* stuff
