Steps and details to become an Apache Geode committer. 

Note that you don't need to be a committer in order to contribute or participate in the project. Patches, JIRA's and participation on the mailing lists and forums are possible and encouraged! It's the way to get necessary Karma to become a committer.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Get involved and contribute via mailing lists, forums, JIRA, documentation or sending patches and pull requests.
  2. Once you become a contributor you will probably be invited by another committer to be a new committer and the community will vote
  3. If the vote pass and you get accepted, download and print the Apache Contributor License Agreement (ICLA) from here. (For a company that will assign employees to work with Apache projects, please check the Corporate CLA)
  4. Sign and scan the ICLA and send to secretary@apache.org.
  5. Wait for your name to appear in the list of received CLA's. 
  6. Once that is complete, you can send a message to dev@geode.incubator.apache.org with the following information:

    2. Your preferred e-mail address:
    3. Your preferred Apache ID:
  7. Once your account is provisioned you shall receive an e-mail from root@apache.org with details.
  8. Login at https://id.apache.org to test your account and update your profile if needed.
