https://lists.apache.org/thread/vr4zf6zhg2yp41bjwvlpm1mp2nrycqcw

Not getting responses maybe because of the upcoming holidays

Will send a reminder in January

GitHub Branch Strategy

Formalize branch strategy across SDAP repositories

Stepheny will propose a branch strategy to dev@ for feedback in January

  • Gitflow
    • develop and main branches
    • feature branches get merged to develop
    • release branch comes from develop branch
    • PR from release into main branch
  • We have a lot of open PRs that are not being reviewed and merged due to pending 1.2.0 release
  • We have a lot of stale branches
    • Branches that have been merged should be automatically deleted. It may be a simple configuration change.
    • At what point do we abandon old, unmerged branches?
  • contributing.md needs updating to capture recommended practice for forking repository and opening PRs

Send out a request to dev@ to clean up own branches

Automated Builds

Build guide contains a lot of individual steps and would be useful if it's combined into a single script

Automate pushing of docker images to dockerhub

Release Process for TLP

No longer requires oversight from incubator PMC

Project self manages release

Testing

Lack of unit tests

Can we build a suite of regression tests that would run against data from quickstart? Would be useful to open Jira tickets to track these requests.

In situ repository

Lots of pending changes

  • Stats endpoint update
  • Additional ingestion support for NetCDF-4
  • AWS Pipeline to automate ingestion
  • Automated validation tool
  • Patching indexing bug

Need to have community discussion on dev@ for large changes
