Funding from TAC MAY BE available for 3rd party (non-apache) events as well as smaller apache events such as roadshows and meetups, provided there is a positive cash balance at the time of requesting.

Funding for these events:

  • Are decided on a case-by-case basis AS REQUESTED/CHAMPIONED BY $champion, where $champion:
    • Is an apache project or a group of people within the wider apache community, including but not limited to:
      • An ASF PMC/PPMC/committee
      • A group of Apache members
    • can provide/guarantee a notable ASF presence, such as:
      • A booth for the ASF or one or more projects
      • A sizeable (TBD) number of talks/events relating to the foundation or one or more projects
    • can rationalize how TAC funding would benefit both the foundation and its projects, and provide a clear plan for how this would play out.
    • can provide at least one person to help liaise with TAC and the event, including:
      • coordinating applications
      • coordinating on-the-ground handling of accepted TAC recipients
      • Ensuring the above-mentioned ASF presence at the conference

Funding is granted fully at the discretion of the Travel Assistance Committee, on a per-request basis.

Funding requests for future events are discussed on  tac-funding@apache.org and must be requested no later than 90 days prior to the event.
Requests and discussions are public. The final deliberation will be made internally by the Travel Assistance Committee and published within 14 days from the date the initial request was made.
