How has the project developed since the last report?

  1. 1.9.0 Released The release was finalized and passed general@incubator vote on 2021-12-23. This was the first MXNet release without DISCLAIMER-WIP, and there were numerous license issues identified and resolved with 3rd-party dependencies.
  2. 2.0 Beta 1 Released MXNet 2.0 features interoperable ML and DL programming with Array API standard implementation. This project aims to make array libraries like NumPy, MXNet, Pytorch more interoperable. Besides standardized operators, new methods and mechanism will be introduced to improve the interoperability. 1) In MXNet2.0, Context class and some related array methods like as_in_ctx will be replaced by Device and to_device to reduce the learning curve for new users. 2) The improved DLPack API in MXNet leverages the syncobject introduced in Async GPU dependency engine and can well handle the cuda stream to improve the array libraries interoperability on different devices.

Yes. From past brand usage review for MXNet third-party distributions, we found several listings on AWS marketplace that needed update. The PPMC reached out to the publishers of these listings for correction and fixed them. In recent review, we found the following three entries to have regression in branding and have reached out to them again.

Training

The Training project aims to develop resources which can be used for training purposes in various media formats, languages and for various Apache and non-Apache target projects.

Training has been incubating since 2019-02-21.

Three most important unfinished issues to address before graduating:

  1. Restart the Community
  2. Start doing releases
  3. Make Apache Training more well known

Are there any issues that the IPMC or ASF Board need to be aware of?

Currently the activity dropped to an all-time low. We even missed a number of reports. We had a discussion on the mailinglist, if we should aim for giving up, however the responses encouraged us to give it a new try and we are currently trying to restart the project as there is indeed some interest in the project.

How has the community developed since the last report?

It hasn't developed at all, but we're hoping to change that.

How has the project developed since the last report?

Some minor updates have been made to the codebase to stay up to date on the side of the framework we use for generating the presentations.

Admittedly nothing has happened, so nothing has been falling through any cracks, however we missed some board reports, which are now being written by one of the mentors.
