Workshop Objectives
- Retrospective of last year's meeting
- Identification and disucussion of topics raised by attendees
Background
The meeting started with a round table brainstorming of topics to be discussed. The following topics were raised:
- Retrospecitve of the Apachecon workshop that had been held the year before and looking at what had and had not been achieved.
- OFBiz Release Strategy
- Minilang
- OFBiz Framewoerk
- Freemarker
- OFBiz UX
- OFBiz Business Demo
- Automated Testing
Discussion Topic: Retrospective
There was a general discussion about all the topics raised during the previous Apachecon workshop in Budapest; Fourteen proposals came from that meeting

Proposal: Marketing the OFBiz Demo to Business End Users
- Prepare an end user demo that can be based on roles (e.g accountant, HR manager, Order Clerk, Warehouse Manager etc).
- Link to user stories that can have a script or supporting documentation (e.g currently on main page there are no instructions about how to login to the demo just in case you are thrown out.
- Also default user if flexadmin which doesnt have all the permissions for all applications).
Proposal: Build a set of Common Core OFBiz Marketing Material
- Put together some standard OFBiz marketing information that all integrators / users have access to.
- Integrators can then adapt it to suit their needs if required. Information could be white papers around supported industries etc.
- Will need to define what tool could be used to prepare the material as it needs to be accessible to a common audience. This is important as everyone will need to be able to edit it!
Proposal: Housekeeping and Ongoing Maintenance
- eg. Tomcat etc. Need to keep a watching brief on external products that are directly used by OFBiz and prepare a plan of when to integrate them

Proposal: Establish a group of "mini subject matter experts" covering business and technical
- i.e. dont have to be both but can be
- Identify contributors and knowledge. Can refer to these people regarding their specific area
Proposal: Work on a strategy to encourage more business users

- Need to review the process and contact sites that may be infringing on the OFBiz brand
Discussion Topic: Freemarker
Jacopo mentioned that Freemarker is now an incubating project at Apache. Their main committer is based in Budapest and he arranged to meet him informally. Jacopo mentioned that the Freemarker team are keen to build up a user community around their project and as OFBiz makes use of Freemarker, it ,might be interesting to subscribe to their mailing lists to understand what is happening. He also highlighted that the Freemarker team are very interested in getting feedback about their produt and are happy to get any suggestions for improvements or notifications of bugs that need to be fixed;
This could be a good opportunity to build closing links between our communities that be very beneficial to both.
